Celebrating International Authors Day Blog Hop: Hats off to all the great authors out there!

Welcome, all my fellow authors and readers!

Come on in and kick your shoes off because today we are here to celebrate you. Today we celebrate the endless hours in front of a computer, developing the next great piece of literature. Sometimes it is a lonely world and some people may ask, why would you want to commit yourself to that? We do it because we love it. The creative juices flow like a drug pumping through your veins. You curse the time spent on the machine but feel drawn to it like an addict to the next dose. Writing brings you alive and lets you tell your story. Nothing delights the author more than seeing someone reading their creation and getting emotionally involved or learning a new skill they didn’t know they had. Thank-you authors for doing what you do!

I entered the publishing world in June of 2013. I had a manuscript that I had developed just for the fun of it. It had taken me years to complete, while I finished college, started my family and started my career. I thought the hard part was over. I had completed the novel. It now said “The End” at the end but my mother had other plans. She urged me to find a publisher and get it in print. Today, I am so happy she prodded me on and supported me but back then I was lost in an alien world. The crazy world of book publishing and marketing and it let me tell you it can be a dangerous place. So, I turned on my philosophical gps and started navigating this strange domain.

My manuscript, Day After Disaster, came out June 3rd, 2014 and I have been exploring these foreign lands for a while now. Along the way you find other authors just like you and me. Authors willing to help you and point you in the right direction and I have been absolutely blessed to have met some very good mentors. I found out that these wonderful people who educate us and mystify us are not only excellent teachers and storytellers they are also excellent co-workers. I am honored to be among you.

  2. Will you be doing any posts on prepping or learning to survive in the absence of electricity? You could tie specific posts into scenes from your book. Just sayin'. I see a lot of potential here.
