  7. Thank you for addressing the fiction writers' special needs. Although I am a published non-fiction author, I write narrative non-fiction, so many of your suggestions fit my situation as well. Greetings from South Africa!

  10. Sara, I love your idea about how broadening our research on some themes from a fiction book can generate new products and even coaching programs. That's definitely a niche to explore. Thank you and best of luck!
    Congratulations for your book!

  18. Nice recap of the program. I'm glad to see another fiction writer stick through to the end. I like your tip about Goodreads giveaways. I never thought of choosing my own winners too. I'll have to try that. Good luck with your book. It sounds fascinating.

  20. Sara, what inspires me most about your approach is that you look at the materials available to you, and "translate" them into an approach that you can use for marketing your novels!

You may want to consider teaching Fiction authors how to market their books online. I bet we'd have a "line around the block" ready to take your course.

Congratulations and best of luck with your new book. I hear you've been getting some incredible reviews and comments from your fans. That would be fun for readers to view, are they posted here on your blog somewhere?

    1. D'vorah,

Great idea about posting my reviews as blog posts. I will have to do that. I already have some posted on my website but not my blog. I will be looking into developing a coaching program for fictional authors. I find that concept very intriguing.

  22. Sara, Thanks for sharing the fiction tips. I write non-fiction but I have wanted to try my hand at fiction as a way to share the message. Your blog made the jump a little less scary.

  24. Alas! Someone else who is using blogger! Could you tell me how you got it to show comment boxes like this? On mine, I just have (8 comments) that you have to click on to get a box. I, too, got a degree in Business (Information Systems) Management, with the intent to manage others who would do the tedious repetitive things that I could no longer do because of carpal tunnel type pain all the way up my arms & neck leftover from a neck injury followed by a car accident in which I got a severe whiplash. Thus, I went on disability back in 1998. I've been transformed by the modern day availability to self-publish books for practically nothing via print-on-demand and now the Book Marketing Challenge opportunity--which has given me a whole new life purpose to pursue. On another note, I lived out in California from 1983-2006. First Huntington Beach, then Delano followed by Bakersfield before moving to Texas. One of my sisters was very involved in outdoor survival activities, including high cliff rock climbing, sky-diving, & mountain rescue. She met and married a State Park Ranger up in Edmonds, Washington when she was 36 & gave birth to 2 daughters at 'home' with midwives. They all live in a 1-bdrm cabin in the park there in Edmonds between the forest and Puget Sound. When she got pregnant (at the age of 36), she decided not to do any more 'survival' stuff that would risk her life. The girls are now 12 & 14. I thought you might like this little story because of your interest in survival... and I am happy to meet you!

  25. P.S. You need to add to this blog a 'gadget' where people input their email address. (You can see how I did mine). I originally had mine on the bottom of my blog, but in the BMC, it was recommended to have it on top. Was I one of the 1st 15 to win a free copy of your workbook? I forgot I had submitted it & bought one. :)

  26. I'd also like to know how you created the 'facebook' type page that appears when you click on "view my complete profile". I created a google page but couldn't see how to do what you did with the photo in the heading & the facebook type posts.

    1. Hi Renee,

Thanks for the great tip on my blog. I am checking into how to collect the email addresses. I am not sure how I got the profile to be so descriptive. I think it is because it links to my google+ account. I love your life story and that of your sister. Maybe she should look into some activities that still get her outdoors in a not so risky way. Kids definitively change your perspective on adrenaline seeking. Lol! Keep in touch.
